Teacher Cadets
This year has started
off very well for the Teacher Cadets. So far they
have read their Big Book projects to kindergarten through
second grade. The students had to pair up into groups
of
two, and create a story book with original script and pictures
thought of by the students. They were a great success!
All
the cadets have participated in service learning. This
is where each cadet had to accumulate at least 15 service
hours
through the course of the first semester. They accumulate
this by helping teachers grade papers, tutoring, setting
up labs, helping out at Science Fun Nights in schools
throughout
the district, and working at other school-related functions.
The Cadets have had a wonderful learning experience as
they
tour schools and day care centers. They were introduced
to many different educational environments when they
toured
the schools. In the second semester they get to go out
in the field and teach for three days a week. The cadets
are
looking forward to this eye opening experience and they
will learn what it is to be a real teacher. This class
is
going to help the cadets in the future and prepare them
for what to really expect.
